It's almost the weekend, Fairfield County.
Norwalk sets off its fireworks Friday night, a full day before the Fourth, so you can watch the sky light up over the Sound and still have the holiday wide open. The rest of the weekend leans into the country's 250th, from General Putnam on the steps of the Hoyt-Barnum house to a cookout and cornhole at Port 5.

01 · THE SCOOP
The good stuff, fast.
The city's display lights up the night over the water on July 2, a head start on the holiday weekend before Norwalk's show on Friday.
The ninth year runs two days in the park with free admission, so you can graze the lineup without a ticket.
The show pulls from the library's own rare collection to mark the nation's 250th, a quieter way into the anniversary than a parade.
Mills Legge, a 2024 NCHS grad, built the service to match neighbors with vetted local handymen, cleaners, and tutors.
The dancer, choreographer, and director headlines the library's 27th annual benefit on October 28.
