01 · THE SCOOP
The good stuff, fast.
Chef Gary King and pastry chef Emily King, the team behind Ridgefield Bagels & Bakes, opened Norwalk Bagel Co at 133 Washington Street in South Norwalk, built around handcrafted sourdough bagels, deli classics and a full breakfast menu.
Longford's has made small-batch ice cream in Stamford since 1992, and now there is a scoop shop in town to walk into, at Newfield Green, with kosher ice cream, milkshakes and custom cakes. A good summer Friday-night stop, see the calendar below.
A New York bakery is in the works for Darien
A New York bakery has filed plans with Darien Planning and Zoning for a location in town. Nothing is open yet and the filing is early, so this one is just on the radar for now.
A Tyrannosaurus rex centers Six Extinctions at the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, a new show that traces half a billion years of mass extinctions, from armored fish to the dinosaurs to the Tasmanian tiger. The Bruce is the first North American stop on the tour, and it runs through September 6.
The Aldrich in Ridgefield opened The Aldrich Decennial, a survey of new art made in Connecticut that the museum mounts only once every ten years, with the sculpture garden open alongside it.
